Scholarship in NewZealand.

Massey University offers these scholarships to assist Polynesian students from the Pacific Islands undertaking tertiary study.Funds for the scholarships are provided in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, the Pacific Islands Education Foundation and corporate sponsors.

Conditions
1Scholarships are worth up to $1,000 and are awarded for one year only. They are not transferable from one year to another.

2These scholarships are available to students of Cook Islands, Niuean, Tongan, Tokelauan, Samoan or other Pacific Island Polynesian descent who hold New Zealand citizenship, or have or been granted permanent residence in New Zealand. Students must be enrolled for full time study at the Wellington Campus of Massey University.

3Students holding a student permit are not eligible for this scholarship.

4Students who receive significant awards or scholarships from other sources are not eligible for this scholarship.

5If a recipient withdraws from the programme of study before the completion of the programme, the value of the scholarship will be deducted before the calculation of any refund of fees due to the student.

6Applications close at 4pm on 18 March.

7Incomplete applications may not be considered. It is the applicant’s responsibility to collect and forward all documents together.

8Applicants will be notified, via the contact addresses they provide, of the outcome of their application.

9 Payment of scholarships will be made directly to the awardees’ fees accounts or to the awardees if fees have been paid.

Selection Criteria
The successful applicants will be chosen on the basis of:

1]membership of a Pacific Island Polynesian ethnic group.
2]a strong chance of success in the intended programme.
3]the extent of their financial hardship.
4]where other factors are equal, on academic merit.
