The scholarship is available to students of any New Zealand university. The scholarship will be open to graduates in horticulture, science or agriculture who are enrolled at any University for a postgraduate degree or diploma in Horticulture, Science, or Agriculture and whose studies are directed to such disciplines as taxonomy, health or culture of the genus Camellia.
The scholarship will usually be awarded for one year but with the possibility of renewal or extension. The scholarship may be held jointly with other awards at the University. In the event of there being no suitable candidate in any one year, the scholarship may be held over and awarded to a suitable candidate in a succeeding year.
At the conclusion of the study the scholar shall prepare a report on the research in a form suitable for publication in the New Zealand Camellia Bulletin.
This report shall become the property of the Camellia Memorial Trust Incorporated. The scholar will be expected to report progress to the Trustees at the end of each term.
