Job Description: The position is associated with a newly established Junior Research
Group in Mathematical Physics which is funded by Prof. Zirnbauer’s
Leibniz Award and led by Dr. Thomas Quella. The interests of the group
include topological phases of matter, disordered systems and critical phenomena as well as constructive aspects of quantum field theory and
string theory. The University of Cologne offers an excellent research
environment with close contacts to the Collaborative Research Center
(SFB) “Symmetries and Universality in Mesoscopic Systems”.
Applicants must hold a Diploma, Master or an equivalent degree in
Physics or Mathematics in order to qualify for the PhD position. The
successful candidate will be highly motivated and will have an
interest in applying rigorous mathematical methods to the solution of
physical problems. Knowledge in quantum field theory and/or
statistical physics will be advantageous.
