Job Description: This scholarship was established by a series of donations from Dr Robin J Helby. It was Dr Helby’s express wish that the scholarship be offered in three different fields in rotation.
In 2010 Semester 2, the DBH Scholarship will be open to candidates to undertake postgraduate research in the area of the social effects of alcoholism, and is primarily open to sociologists.

Application Procedures
• Applicants who have applied for the 2010 Semester two Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA) by 11 June 2010:
You will need to:
1. Submit a letter stating that you have submitted an application for the 2010 Semester two APA/UPA and wish to be considered for the DBH Scholarship, together with an outline (maximum 2 pages) of your proposed research project on the social effects of alcoholism after discussing the details with your Supervisor or proposed Supervisor.
2. Provide the names and contact details of two academic referees who are familiar with your recent studies and able to comment on your research ability/potential and the relevance of your proposed research project to the purpose of the DBH Scholarship. You must request them to send their report directly to the Scholarships Office by 19 July 2010.
