Deakin University, one of Australia’s most dynamic research institutions, has scholarships available for Higher Degree by Research students. Additional scholarships within a new strategic research centre, Alfred Deakin Research Institute – Citizenship, Governance and Globalisation, are now available in research areas of strategic importance to the Centre
including:
• Democracy, Democratisation and Governance
• International Development and Human Rights
• Migration, Identity and Intercultural Relations
• Australia, Regionalism and Change in Asia and the Pacific
• Beliefs, ideas, ethics and ideologies
• Regional Communities and Development
This centre promotes pure and applied research in a range of disciplines in the humanities and the social sciences and aims to be known nationally and internationally for its outstanding research quality and impact on the diverse problems of citizenship, governance and globalisation.
In addition to the regular Deakin University higher degrees scholarships, the centre will also be offering three scholarships for 2010 with a minimum annual stipend amount of $22,500 tax exempt for three years. Australian Scholarship applicants should hold a first class Honours degree or equivalent qualification and must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens.
